As sometimes happens during remodeling projects, this one has mushroomed into so much more. It's going to be so nice when complete, it will all be worth it.

The new doorway frame. We are already liking the new traffic flow better.
The new stairway opening has improved the traffic flow and made the area feel bigger.
Right behind where Matt is standing you can see the bumpout for the fridge. This will make the fridge flush with the cabinets and buy us a tiny bit more room.
