We met with the crew who will be taking over after the demolition work is complete. We ironed out some details and discussed the schedule.
The crew's first order of business will be framing out the new doorway to the basement. This is a load bearing wall so it is tricky. You can see the two joists in the ceiling end right at the corner. They will need to extend these joists to the other end of the kitchen so that our ceiling doesn't collapse. This week they will also move the doorway into the "mudroom/pantry" and prepare the subflooring throughout.
But before the crew arrives there is more work to be done. Next for us: remove flooring and subflooring, remove soffits, replumb mudroom/pantry.
